Ever his mama's boy, our beloved Dave is facing the same challenge Mary Ann overcame a decade or so ago. And like her, he's going to punch cancer in the face then kick it in the nads. But first...he must have his colon and rectum removed.
Surgery is scheduled for Oct. 17 at Concord Medical Center, followed by an estimated seven days in the hospital. Dave is very pleased with his surgeon, a decision made after much research, but his selection will add to some of the coming logistical hurdles. The hospital is some 30 miles from Dave and Susy's house and more than 60 from Dave's parents in San Jose. On some of the Bay Area's most brutal freeways.
But that's where we come in. Let's pitch in to make it easier for Susy, Daisy, Big Dave, Mary Ann, Mary Grace, Andy and other loved ones to stay close by. With taxes, hotels looks to run around $200/night. If we raise $3,500, we can pay for two rooms for each of the seven nights with some extra for meals.
Let's do it.
