On December 8th, our apartment building was impacted by a fire. The cause is still unknown. At the time, both Alex and I were out of New York. While several units were affected, Alex’s apartment sustained the most severe damage. Beyond the loss of his home, Alex also lost his cat in the fire. He is a deeply kind, compassionate, and thoughtful person, and a wonderful neighbor, always caring and considerate of those around him.
In the hours following the fire, Alex was suddenly displaced and faced with the task of starting over. He is now navigating finding permanent housing and replacing essential belongings. While some people are able to rely on insurance coverage after an event like this, Alex is currently covering many of these costs directly, which adds financial pressure during an already devastating transition.
This fundraiser is intended to help Alex cover immediate needs such as clothing, basic household items, temporary living expenses, and other unexpected costs that come with displacement after a fire. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, is greatly appreciated and will help. Thank you!
