Friends in Need: Jake & Justine
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
We would like to share a story of some very close friends of ours who need your assistance right now. With plans for their future together, Jake and Justine had been searching for a home in the country. After years of searching, their dream finally came true in the fall of 2022 when they purchased a modest country home on some property. Sadly, their dream quickly turned into a nightmare that has seemingly grown worse with each passing month.
Their house passed inspection, but within days of purchasing the home, it was discovered that extensive structural damage was present. This structural damage was accompanied by a major mold and rodent infestation (pictures below show the damage). They immediately realized they would need to remove every ceiling in the home, rebuild/replace each roof truss, as well as the entire roof and all of the roof sheeting. This news came as a tremendous setback to their time and finances. Despite these challenges, they resolved to roll up their sleeves and get to work on painstakingly rebuilding each roof truss one at a time. Jake has put in long hours each day, after working 24-hour shifts as a firefighter, and has spent the entire winter living in a travel trailer on the property while doing this work.
During this time, Justine was hospitalized for a rare pneumonia and skin reaction that didn’t respond to initial treatments. She is now recovering after spending days in the hospital. After this hospitalization, an environmentalist and professional mold remediation company has been hired to thoroughly assess the home. Sadly, it has been discovered that every single interior wall of the home, as well as the crawl space, will need demolition and mold remediation. Homeowner’s insurance will not cover these preexisting damages to the home. Currently, they are receiving legal counsel and are wading through their list of options. After being maxed out financially, this new information has put them in a very tough spot with no easy way out.
The decision to ask for your help is neither easy nor enjoyable. On their behalf, we humbly ask for your prayers and financial support to help these two great people as they struggle through this difficult time.
