Have a Heart for Oak Harbor’s Steve Johnson

We are a group of old childhood friends from Oak Harbor who are rallying around our dear friend Stephen Johnson. Steve recently suffered a heart attack and his cardiologist has advised him to take it easy… very easy, which means his self-employed house painting income has been reduced to zero. We are asking for donations to his GoFundMe page to help him with his day-to-day expenses until he can get back on his feet.

Steve has been a self-employed house painter for many years, living in Montana to be near his children and grandchildren. He is also an incredibly talented artist. His drawings mostly come from photos he takes on his hikes, and then creates his amazing wood burnings from those. They are recently receiving the much-deserved attention that will hopefully lead to the new chapter in his life he needs to focus on… to continue his healing health journey and sell his beautiful art.

He took up juggling several years ago, and is pretty darn good at it, too! Hopefully, he can get back to that soon, as well.

Here’s a very recent post from Steve’s Facebook page, with better words on what his world is now… “Doctor said that I have coronary artery disease, aortic aneurysm and thoracic aneurysm, and kidney disease. I am not supposed to chop wood, shovel snow, no digging dirt, can't use a sledgehammer, no pulling or lifting 30+ lbs, avoid contact sports. Don't get hit in the chest. Other than that I feel pretty good today. This recommendation is for the rest of my life. When I didn't qualify for health partners assistance, I told them that I better get back to painting houses. The assistant suggested I sell my art for a living and the receptionist said, well you got to do what you got to do.”
