Life is a series of joy & sorrow and oftentimes, it’s the tough battles that catch us off-guard. Just like what happened to “friend for all”, Rene "Enie" Sarreal. He had been the ‘go to’ when life’s treating people around him unfair. But his own life took a turn five months ago when he was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.

Enie currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska and is the breadwinner of his family with five kids (ages 12 to 19). When he broke the news of his cancer to his wife, she was initially in denial. Eventually, the family had to deal with reality and Enie went for colostomy to alleviate the severe pain he suffered daily.

Though Enie is undergoing treatment, he cannot go on full disability as he still tries to work to help the family finances. However, the recent surgery and ongoing chemotherapy had been daunting and depleted his energy & resources. A number of Enie’s chemo meds are not covered by insurance and this drives him to work as much as he could... yes, even with his almost ceaseless pain.

Despite initial treatment & surgery, the tumor had not shrunk a bit so oncologists need to re-evaluate his case. Enie was referred to oncologists in Texas but with draining resources due to his medical expense, he cannot afford to go to Texas to seek the best treatment possible.

Enie had been confined in the hospital several times now and his recent treatment had kept him from working and providing sufficient financial support for his family. Meanwhile, bills kept coming.

Family and friends have rallied behind Enie but more people indicated their desire to provide financial support and had no idea how to send funds through. People from Enie’s local church, friends from Omaha, California , New Jersey and even the Philippines are a few of those willing to help. Outpouring love, encouragement, prayers and support gave Enie tremendous courage to fight and win this battle!

We appeal to people who care mirror what Enie had done to family and friends all these years - reach out and give whatever can be shared. Nothing is too little to contribute to this friend who had always been a brother to all.

The funding from your contributions will go directly towards assisting Enie and his family with basic living expenses, uninsured medical expenses, medical co-pays, and any other needs directly related to Enie's care.
