Making progress but not out of the woods!

Hello!

First, I want to thank all of you who have so generously donated to help Billy and I want to give you an update on his current condition and let you know what my plan is.

For some weeks now, it’s truly been a constant challenge with various life saving measures being performed by many medical professionals at two different hospitals. He has responded to some degree to these actions and is now speaking and walking with assistance. He did a round of chemo therapy which was considered successful.

Per the goals laid out by the doctors, he’s now making them, which is great news. He does remain hospitalized here in Denison, TX and our next big hurdle is to get him moved safely back to California where he’ll be able to undergo additional treatment and have the support of his friends and family. He currently has a tracheotomy, so is unable to eat which is going to be quite challenging, not only for the move, but for an unspecified amount of time thereafter.

Currently, my plan is within the next 5-7 days to get trained on how to best assist him with the various medical needs he’ll have and to personally drive him back to California and care for him enroute. Once in California, I’m anticipating another 5-7 days to get him situated, the proper medical equipment located, delivered and into use and to find out about various insurance coverages that might be available to him. At this point, he’ll continue his treatment in California.

Needless to say, it’s going to be a long haul, but as noted above, Billy IS making progress and is pretty darned determined to lick this!

This is how you can help. My best estimate for all that’s outlined above, including lodging, gas, etc. is going to run between $8,000 and $10,000. I’m figuring this will be adequate until the

disability insurance kicks in, but until then, any monetary donations you can make will be so very much appreciated and helpful to get him back to California.
