Friends and Family of Rich Healey

Donation protected

Edited: after this original post, there was another gofundme created that is targeted for the children’s education and the executrix will be handling Rich’s expenses.  I am Rich’s fiancé and we made a life as a couple for the past 7 years and were making plans for our future. Though I am fairly financially self-sufficient, there are combined expenses that this will help with.   In lieu of a traditional funeral we will be planning a Celebration of Rich’s life and additionally I will be creating an annual Rich Healey Scholarship Fund for new incoming members of the IBEW 164 that need help with tuition.

If you would like to donate, please do so. if you can share this link, please do so.  Everything is greatly appreciated!!

Rich Healey was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Monday, June 7th. He insisted the 103.2 fever he sustained the entire week would go away on its own. In the early morning hours of Friday, June 11th he began coughing and was unable to catch his breath, at this point he conceded to be taken to the ER. Upon arrival to the ER they found his oxygen saturation to be way below acceptable levels and promptly began aggressive treatments. They found Rich was suffering from 3 major Covid symptom groups including Covid Pneumonia. His condition rapidly deteriorated over the next 48 hours and he was placed in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilation machine to breath for him. As the week played out Rich’s condition worsened, and they found he was not responding to external stimulation. A Neurologist was called in to assess his situation. The Neurologist concluded that Rich had lost all brain function and was no longer able to recover from this situation. The Neurologist recommended termination of care due to extensive irreparable brain damage.

Just 7 days from literally walking into the ER Rich’s journey has come to an end. His loved ones are devastated and trying to process this loss. A Memorial celebration will be organized so Rich’s friends and family including his large family of Union Brothers and Sisters, can gather and remember him as they knew and loved him.

Emotional support, sharing this link, love and monetary donations are all equally valued so please do not do more than what you can comfortably afford to do. Everyone here is lucky to have known Rich. I know Rich is with us today and smiling down on each of us. On behalf of my best friend, thank you.
