July 2025 Update

We have a date and venue! The free concert is officially set for Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at The Queen Salote Memorial Hall in Tonga.

Thanks to your incredible support, we’re full steam ahead. Now we’re focused on raising the final funds needed to bring this vision to life. Here’s a detailed look at our actual budget:

Budget Breakdown

✈️ Flights – $9,382.00

We’re flying in a team of 10 from the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. This includes Etu, five band members, three admin/support crew, and a cinematographer who will document the journey for a follow-up documentary. This covers their trip to Tonga and back home.

Accommodation – $6,600.00

The team will be staying at Tanoa. Some members of the crew will arrive a week early to prepare for the show.

️️ Production Costs – $10,000.00

Covers sound, lighting, stage, and everything needed to produce a high-quality concert experience.

Labor – $3,300.00

We’re hiring security, cleaners, local musicians, DJs, and MCs. While this show is free for the community, we believe everyone involved deserves to be paid fairly.

️ ️ Food – $1,550.00

To feed the team throughout their stay.

Local Transportation – $1,500.00

Covers daily transport for the team and equipment.

Ancillary Costs – $7,868.00

Includes travel insurance, permits, extra baggage fees, instrument coverage, medical supplies, and other unexpected costs—like mosquito bite cream (yes, we’re planning for everything).

Total Goal: $40,000.00

A Note on Budget Changes

When we first launched this fundraiser, our goal was $80,000. That estimate included shipping a full container of production gear and booking additional artists to join us. Since then, we’ve successfully reduced costs by working with local production companies in Tonga and choosing to focus the event around our core team. These changes allow us to deliver an incredible experience at half the original budget—without compromising quality.
