UPDATE: 6/28/18
Jackie needs our help again!
I am sharing this again....
Jackie is still in extreme pain and is going to have surgery again. She will be flying back to Maryland again. Here is an update from my Jackie. Saw my Doctor today. (In Maryland) As always, spent almost 2 hours with me. I have had these horrible spasms that cause pain that shoot through my chest to my shoulder and recently down my arm. He gave me a block and had me sit for awhile. Spasms stopped temporarily. He feels as though it is my pectoral minor. Game plan is to fly out 7/15 for another MRI, more blocks, and surgery on the 18th. Fly home on the 20th. 6 days this next time. My Mom will come with me. I really feel blessed that he advocates for me and so many others. He understands that this is caused by the radiation we received. He is patient, compassionate, and also very truthful. Emails, texts, etc. Not many doctors do that. We all truly believe that he is going to be the one that figures out a way to stop this from happening to others. I am very blessed. Peace, friends
THIS IS FROM LAST YEAR
Jackie is the wife of my cousin Steve....
This Go Fund Me Page will be a surprise to them both.
I want to do this because the last 10 years have been so difficult for both, especially, Jackie.
Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2008. She was given a lumpectomy with 38 radiation treatments. In the middle of her treatments, she kept stating that something was wrong. She was severely burned.... fried black!!!!!! She finished those treatments and started having trouble immediately. Her first surgery started that summer due to the effects of the radiation and has continued.
Jackie is grateful she is alive but is subjected to a steady throbbing, stabbing, unpleasant sensory experience DAILY. Jackie's has been suffering the after-effects from this radiation and dealing with PAIN since 2008. Jackie had 15 surgeries due to radiation. She has been to Mayo 3 times for the excruciating pain. Mayo sent her to a peripheral nerve specialist, that current doctor is in Maryland, Dr. Eric Williams. He has performed surgery on 3 separate occasions; to repair her ribs and the nerves affected in T1 through T7. She had many improvements because of this Doctor. Jackie's most recent surgery was this past February. Steve and Jackie had to stay in Maryland for eight days.
Jackie recently experienced some setbacks and is flying to Maryland in the next couple of weeks...AGAIN. This is becoming hard on the family FINANCIALLY & EMOTIONALLY.
Jackie's a Chicago Teacher who is on leave now; She is only receiving 60% of her pay right now and will receive no pay beginning May 1st. She is not eligible to apply for disability again until May of 2018. Based on her history of setbacks, I feel as though we need to do this for the Ladislas Family. I want to make sure that if she needs to fly out there, she can without a burden. To clarify: Jackie has not worked since February 20th and just extended her leave again. She will not be getting paid this summer. Steve works for the City of Chicago and has taken on two other part-time jobs.
Josh and Jenna are both in High School. Jackie feels guilty having to go back out there again. I do NOT want her to ever feel guilty for trying to get better! Both Josh and Jenna are not blind to their mother’s pain...constantly worrying about their mom is ongoing.
Many people helped send Jackie to Maryland in 2012 and the hope was that it was going to be her one & only time there. They appreciated everyone's generosity very much. The money raised covered their expenses that one time. This fund is to help provide assistance for Jackie to be able to go back and forth when needed. As we all know, hotel stays, transportation to and from airport, meals, etc. can be costly. If you can help this awesome family, it would be very much appreciated.
If not, prayers and good vibes would be wonderful too.
If you would like to send a check, email me and I will send you their address.
Thank you and God Bless.
