Friday's Xmas in the Hospital
Donation protected

Do you remember when Friday and I spent this Christmas in the hospital?! And Mom and Suzie drove all over the PNW for this babe?
We had almost forgotten too... until the ghost of medical bills past came to haunt Friday.
Chronic illness is real, and really expensive! It wasn't enough to spend Christmas Eve in the ER, Christmas Day in hospital, wretched pain (the kind dilaudid, fentanyl, and morphine do nothing for, the kind that makes you iterate a list of loved ones to say your goodbyes to) and an NG tube; but then you get smacked with a bill.. even when you have insurance.
So here's what's most scary about this to me: because this bill is overwhelming, and because our healthcare system is full of surprise costs Friday has to cancel future medical appointments in order to not incur more debt. Im angry and sad about this.
Friday is a ray of sunshine, our most vibrant renewable energy source (runs on macarons), a relentlessness giver, an inspiration to far more than one of us here. This is what I want to do for Friday in this order:
1. Pay off this medical bill: $1360
2. Get some extra to mitigate the unknown cost of an upcoming ultrasound: $???
3. And then also a little extra to mitigate the cost of something a bit more fun--training certification to teach pole: $425
The goal here reflects the known costs, but Friday never going to not have medical expenses. Even a dollar counts and then also give a serious thought to healthcare reform in your upcoming elections!
