Frida had an emergency surgery yesterday due to a misdiagnosis of pyometra by two different Veterinarians. Pyometra can be fatal and after extensive testing I agreed to the surgery believing it was saving her life. The doctor performed a hysterectomy and removed her uterus and ovaries. After the surgery, I was told that Frida did NOT have pyometra but was in fact pregnant. I cannot begin to relay the anguish and loss that I feel. Frida and VanGogh’s beautiful puppies are no more and they will only live in my imagination. Frida is recuperating and I am grateful that she will heal but this was an unexpected expense.
