On August 12, 2025 Freya was born to Gianna & Dylan, she is currently still in the hospital. At 28 weeks of their pregnancy, they learned that Freya had a rare congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus; she was born with one large single blood vessel coming out of her heart instead of two blood vessels which would require open heart surgery to fix it.

Shortly after Freya was born, the Dr.'s were able to confirm her diagnosis of DiGeorge Syndrome - a genetic condition caused by the deletion of the 22nd chromosome. DiGeorge often impacts multiple parts of the body, and in Freya's case is likely what caused her heart condition, time will tell more if other parts have been affected by this condition.

At just 10 days old, Dr.'s attempted open-heart surgery to fix the blood vessel in her heart, they had to stop after finding a devastating complication. During anesthesia the TEE probe accidentally tore a hole in her throat, forcing the surgery to be delayed to fix her heart.

Finally on September 22nd, Freya underwent open -heart surgery. We are incredibly grateful that the procedure was a success. Her heart is repaired, but her journey is far from over. Freya has shown more strength in her short life than anyone could ever imagine, she is a fighter! She has a big personality, she is strong, sweet and so deeply loved. She has already overcome more than any child let alone a newborn should ever face.

She has spent her entire life so far in the CVCC surrounded by machines, monitors, and she has an amazing medical team that we are blessed to have. We are praying for a smooth recovery with hopes to bring her home by the holidays.

During this difficult time we are asking you for your help for Gianna, Dylan, and Freya as they navigate this emotional and financially draining time. All proceeds will help with ongoing medical bills, expenses not covered by insurance, travel, lodging, and meals while staying by Freya's side. Freya's continued care, recovery, basic living support will be life changing and financially challenging.
