Freya’s Fight
Our sweet daughter, Freya, wasn’t expected to arrive until June 4th. Her father and I went in for what we thought would be a routine ultrasound, but in an instant, our world changed. The technician discovered something terrifying—there was no amniotic fluid surrounding our baby.
Within hours, I was rushed to a specialist two hours away from home. What followed was a blur of tests, steroid injections, and agonizing uncertainty. After careful evaluation, the doctors made a devastating decision: Freya needed to be delivered immediately. I was wheeled into the operating room, my heart heavy with fear, knowing that our baby’s chances of survival were slim—but this was her only hope.
During delivery, things took an even more dangerous turn. Severe complications forced my doctor to perform an emergency hysterectomy to save my life. And then, against all odds, our tiny warrior entered the world on February 27th, weighing just 370 grams—less than a pound. The NICU team worked swiftly, placing a breathing tube and IVs to stabilize her fragile body before rushing her to intensive care.
Now, we face an uphill battle. Freya will remain in the NICU, two hours away from home, until at least June. In the coming months, we’ll be making that long drive back and forth every day—balancing our time between being by her side and keeping life running at home.
All we want is to bring our baby girl home. This is the hardest fight of our lives, and every bit of support—whether through prayers, kind words, or other means—means more to us than we can express. Thank you for standing with us in Freya’s fight.
