At 20 weeks along Ashley and Micah discovered through ultra sound that their unborn daughter has a severe case of Ebstein’s Anomaly. Her tricuspid valve isn’t closing properly so blood that goes from the upper right side to the lower right side is regurgitating back upward & causing the upper right chamber to expand from the extra pressure. They also didn’t see evidence that her pulmonary valve is opening either, which is also creating an issue. If they make it to delivery she will need 3 surgeries, the 1st being at 1 week old. This surgery is the most critical. They will also need to deliver at The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Ashley will need to start staying there 1 month before her due date as to eliminate Freya being born anywhere else and being without her appointed emergency medical staff. Ashley and Freya will need to stay in Pittsburgh between the 1st 2 surgeries, the 2nd surgery being at around 3 months. She will then stay for recovery approximately another month. The last of the surgeries will be at around 2-3 yrs old. Micah will spend his weekends traveling from York to Pittsburgh to be with his family. They will have expenses of room and board in Pittsburgh, gas & tolls, food, and Ashley will be unable to return to her job for an extended period of time. We ask that along with all of the love, support, & prayers that everyone has given please consider helping to lighten the financial stress in any way available.
