Hiya, I'm Alix, and I've been skating for Canberra Roller Derby League as Freudian Slit since 2010.
After training all year, I have the privilege of being part of Team Australia at the Blood & Thunder Roller Derby World Cup, held 1-4 February 2018 in Manchester!
Now...how to get me there! I'm hoping to fundraise to offset costs of accommodation, and most importantly: TRAVEL!
Some people may know I unexpectedly got taken out by deep vein thrombosis in November 2015, with the resulting blood clot (~80cm) going from my ankle to my belly. I was off-track for six months, and didn't know if I could ever play roller derby again.
Turns out I can--and to offset the risk of a repeat blood clot, my specialist recommends I fly business class.
I've been budgeting pretty hard for this trip--but any amount will help because this expense is gonna huuuuurt (almost as much as my blood clot, Clarice, did).
So if you have a dollar (or several, who am I to limit your generosity!) you would like to contribute to this fair-to-great cause, I would appreciate it immensely. In return I can offer you some humble rewards...a workout in your honour, a personalised skating lesson, you want it, you got it--within reason (fundraising brackets TBD). Sound off in the comments.
