Fresh Start: New Bibles for Inmates

We are supporting the efforts of a start-up ministry in the Montgomery County Jail here in Texas. The Bibles that are provided in the county jail are paperback and are extremely worn. Some have profanities written in them.

One of the inmate's goals is to provide a new, leathersoft Bible to any inmate that would like one to take with them when they are either released back into society or are sent to prison. Each Bible is $8.00, and there is a minimum amount needed to secure free shipping, which is a huge savings. The plan is to order both English and Spanish Bibles.

Each Bible will have stickers placed in them. The plan of salvation is on one sticker. There are scripture references for God's promises for comfort, God's wisdom when you are weary, God's promises when you feel alone, God's promises when a crisis hits, and God's promises of peace. And, there is a list of scriptures to make you strong.

And then this message will also be placed in them:

"You are not here by chance, but by God's choosing. His hand formed you and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else - you are one of a kind. You lack nothing that His grace can't give you. He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for your life. God sent His son to die for you. Jesus loves you so much. You are precious in His sight. You are more valuable to Jesus than the whole universe. There is nothing more important to God than you! No matter what you have done, He will take you as you are and where you are. Give Jesus your life by trusting HIM now. Make a decision now. Trust Jesus as your Savior and have life with HIM now and forever in heaven."
