Hello!
My name is Matthea Fenelon and I am raising money for my sister Freia Fenelon.
Freia is about to undergo a very difficult surgery at the Mayo Clinic at the end of this month to remove fibroids that are threatening the proper functioning of her kidneys and bladder. She has been in chronic pain for over two years now. Freia has an estimated almost 50 fibroids, some as large as a cantaloupe growing inside her. What was a manageable health issue became a crisis as a result of the lack of available medical care during the Pandemic for people with non-life-threatening medical issues. Freia has been experiencing the pain, discomfort and excessive bleeding that is common with fibroids since 2019. Now her situation is an emergency.
Deciding to have this surgery has been a particularly heavy and difficult decision for Freia because it could result in a hysterechtomy, causing yet another obstacle in pursuing her lifelong dream of starting a family.
The money raised will go toward mounting bills, making up for lost wages, and medical supplies for her post-surgery recovery.
Here is Freia's Amazon wish list for items she will need to help her recover from her surgery:
Freia’s care team will keep everyone updated on her recovery journey through this Caring Bridge blog: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/fibroidfree2023
Freia's partner has organized a meal train for her here if anyone would like to contribute with a meal - https://mealtrain.com/418232
Thank you in advance to everyone in our community for taking care of my sister and our family in whatever capacity you have.
I am endlessly grateful for each and every one of you.
