I’m the first guy to help others and I’m the last guy to ask for help.
Recently I was hospitalized and while I was there squatters came to my house.
They stole virtually everything of value, from collectibles, boardgames, pokemon cards, magic cards, records, videogames, books, computers, VR equipment, a guitar, tools, shoes, a bicycle. food stamp card, bank card, my phone, social security card, birth certificate, medical records, and home records, while damaging my stove, and burning my refrigerator. They even stole brand new clothes that I was planning to wear to a job interview.
I have been unable to get my old phone number back and can’t sign into my gmail without it, I've lost so much data and I can’t sign into any of my old social media. I feel isolated from everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting throughout the years and don’t know how I’m going to promote this without my old network of friends. Not having a computer or smartphone in 2026 makes life pretty difficult. I am literally staying at my mother's, borrowing her laptop to type this out.
I live in New England. Since being released from the hospital I've received $100 from my weekend job, due to it being the end of a pay period and an error. At the present moment, across all of my accounts and wallet, I have $16 to my name and have been living off of donated food and food pantries, while I await a new food stamp card.
Adding to my needed home repairs, is my furnace. It worked just fine before I left for the hospital and has not functioned since people broke into my home. Without heat some of my pipes are now burst and I am unable to use my toilet, take a shower, clean my dishes, and cooking is difficult. I've been playing pioneer and melting snow to have drinking water on my stove which also needs minor repairs. It is so cold that I can see my breath and the water in the toilet bowl is frozen. To take a shower, I have to walk an hour one way to planet fitness, and then walk an hour back home since they stole my bicycle, too.
I have no transportation other than my feet and am presently dependent upon others to assist me in making it to my weekend job at the Portsmouth Navy Shipyard.
As I type this, I’m having a hard time focusing because my glasses were also stolen. Presently I am wearing my mother’s spare pair, which is not my prescription, but it is better than nothing.
Now I need to replace my glasses, repair my furnace, pipes, stove, probably get a new fridge, a bicycle for transportation, a new phone, and a computer. I just want to be able to heat my home, take a shower, use the bathroom, cook, access a smartphone, and have the opportunity to work from home with a laptop. Fixing the house will allow me to look for a roommate which would make a massive difference in my budget.
If I were to be so bold, I would even enjoy knowing my electricity is up to date and that I no longer have to fear disconnection. Prior to the squatters, I slid on ice on a snowy night while driving and lost control of my vehicle. My car was totaled, which is why the loss of my bicycle is so crippling. It was a humble 2005 Honda Civic. No frills, just reliable with good gas mileage. Unfortunately insurance was unwilling to pay me for my car, hence the bicycle.
I hate asking, but I need help. I need to have a pair of glasses with my prescription so I can see, a computer that I can use to work from home during the week, a smart phone that I can use to log in to my weekend job at the shipyard, heat in my home-whether it be from firewood for the woodstove or oil in the heating tank, a furnace that works, functioning pipes so that I can use water from my well, and a bike to get me to the grocery store. Anything you can spare, even the cost of a cup of coffee would be appreciated. I just need to be able to stay warm, see, and get to work. Please help if you are able to, or share this with someone who may wish to help.
