We are three crazies serving Jesus by building a house in Sierra Leone for a pastor. Join us for three months as we seek adventure for Christ.
Family and Friends,
Greetings! We (Keith, Alisha, & Linnea) would like to share with you the ways in which God has been moving in our lives. Our hope is, if nothing more, to tell a story of how God answers the prayer to “Use us in our complete weaknesses to serve You, spread Your love, and have a great impact for Your Gospel and kingdom.”
In America, most Christians have the privilege of, and opportunity to, effectively accomplish kingdom work, given the plethora of resources and networks available. This is not so in many parts of the world. For years, Pastor Dan Kamara (Freetown, Sierra Leone) has faithfully served as the shepherd of three church bodies, helped at the Raining Season orphanage, adopted three children, and is currently pursuing adopting two more. He lives in a two-room house. There are many like him in Sierra Leone: faithful believers and followers who are diligently serving, even with the little they have been given in terms of the world’s resources. Recently, God has orchestrated the forming of NEBA – an organization that seeks to provide resources and tools to faithful brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone. The primary aim is to build houses for those who will utilize their homes for ministry centers, neighborhood gathering places, and gospel lighthouses. The inaugural build will be for Pastor Dan.
God has been moving in our hearts for some time, beginning fall of last year. His work was clearly preparing primarily Keith, but also Alisha, for a drastic change in vision and heart. When Keith was approached by two men from church who had recently returned from Sierra Leone, it was very clear that this was the work God was preparing for us. As NEBA was formed, and vision was cast, both of us felt very strongly that our part was on the ground, in Sierra Leone, for the inaugural house build. Our tasks would be assisting with project oversight, learn building processes, work hard alongside the Leoneans, search out innovative solutions for clean water, power, mold problems, and the like. Overarching is a desire to strengthen relationships, care, bless, and love on each individual we come in contact with.
To share a little of our hearts going into this…while this is not a long-term mission trip, we are on a long-term mission. Both of us have yearned for opportunities to use our privileges as Americans, who although not rich by our standards are so wealthy on a global scale. We specifically have a heart to enable those who are recklessly in pursuit of Christ to run uninhibited. This coupled together with our citizenship as Americans, and Keith’s expertise as a builder, is a pretty perfect fit with the goals of NEBA, and the vision for this particular trip.
Logistically speaking, we will be staying in the NEBA headquarters, which doubles as an apartment. Keith will spend most of his days at the build site, which is a reasonable travel distance. Alisha and Linnea will join him whenever possible, while looking for opportunities to build relationships with the Leoneans. Departure will be early November, return will be end of January (most likely).
What are we asking from you?
1. First and foremost, we challenge you wherever you are in your walk with the Lord, ask Him to make your walk radical and your pursuit reckless.
2. Second, pray the same for us. ☺
3. Third, join us by going to our facebook page, Stoltzfus Family Freetown Edition, and following our posts and updates.
4. Fourth, as you think of us, pray specifically for: our time to be fruitful; our hearts to be joined; Pastor Kamara’s ministry and over his new house; our daughter to be mature beyond her months ☺; protection; hearts full of love and compassion, and emptied of selfishness; a overwhelming sense of gratitude to our great God for how He specifically called each of us out of rubble to His glorious family; financial provision; and safety.
5. Finally, if you are able to and are called to support us financially we would be grateful. Our estimated expenses will be roughly $9,000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to sharing with you all of the great things that God will continue to do in our lives, and please do the same with us. Lets get excited and joyful for what God will do in our weaknesses.
