Monty Hendrixsonis currently in prison in Mississippi (Tony Hendrixson, MDOC #190607) serving an 8 year sentence with 12 years more suspended and 12 years of parole and probation. This was for the horrible crime of possession of marijuana. Not sales, not distibution, not trafficking, simple possession.
Just to give an example of the similar crimes with this sentence - in Mississippi - a man confessed (to the same judge, in the same courtroom) to marrying a woman just to be able to molest her two pretee daughters. He got 8 years, 10 suspended, 10 years parole/probation.
This was Monty's first conviction, at age 47, for any felony anywhere. (He had a 1986 misdemeanor for employing illegal aliens).
A retired judge has been retained to appeal this case. He has found 9 different specific causes to get this case thrown out - from the judge actually threatening Monty in open court (Judicial misconduct, non-impartiality) to the hired local defense attorney helping the judge convict Monty (ineffective cousel, filed no motions at all) and filing a sentence different than that pronounced in open court. Many people have tried to help but crowd funding has become a final resort.
The appeal lawyer is quite certain of success - he's only lost 2 cases in 15 years, and says this one is a great case. Any help is appreciated, every dollar helps. Appeals that go to the Mississippi Sate Supreme Court are very expensive. The judges know that most convicted folks lack the ability to appeal, and that it's beyond hope. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS.
