Emergency surgery for Dennis Spence

Due to Denny not being able to work for another month or two, we still ask for your help in any way. I'm working part time and am in school for nursing. Thank you so much for the love and prayers ❤️
On December 6th late that night, I woke up to Dennis naked in the floor screaming and crying holding his stomach. We had been to centerra Princess Anne previously and they told us that it was not a tumor and that it was not an ulcer. That he needed to change his diet. Diet. That gluten was upsetting his stomach. For the past 4 years Dennis has been on a gluten-free diet. If you know him at all, you know THIS HAS BEEN THE HARDEST THING EVER. No pasta, no bread, no beer, no cookies, the list goes on and on but the short is EVERYTHING that is delicious has gluten in it.
So we get to the hospital. They give him Dilaudid, it does absolutely nothing for the pain and he's still crying in the hallway. They ran a CT and saw and ulcer on his intestine. They rushed him into emergency surgery. This should have been laparoscopic, but there was a complication so they had to cut him open with a 7-in incision down his abdomen. The doctor was able to patch the ulcer and get that all cleared up.
We should have been leaving a couple days after that. There was another complication and he was holding fluid in his upper abdomen and they couldn't explain why it wasn't going away. So they inserted a chest tube , drained as much of the fluid as they could and left the tube in to continue the drainage.
Complication number two. Under his incision there was an abscess. The doctor had to reopen the center of his incision about 2 in and about 4 in inside of him. Every day I take the bandage off, take out the gauze with all of the nasty juices on it. Clean it out. Real good and stick more gauze down into the hole and cover with a bandage. This has to be done twice a day. He had begun to feel a little better. But we weren't out of the woods yet.
His white blood cell count was so high! But it made no sense, he was up and walking, eating, talking, no pain really. But your white blood cell count only gets high because your body is fighting off some type of infection. So we could not go home. Dennis was an inch away from checking himself out of the hospital. If he had done that he would have died. But they found in his lower abdomen more fluid. That was terribly infected. They inserted a drain by his pelvic area and sucked out as much of the fluid as they could and left the drain in to keep drawing out anything that was left over.
We ARE home now, but Dennis has a long road to recovery ahead of him. He almost died and I'm not ready to let him go any time soon. Every small complication has happened so I'm keeping a close eye on him. He's got 6-8 weeks of healing. He has an open wound on his stomach that I'm cleaning and changing daily, along with a JP drain coming out of his groin that I'll be flushing and documenting fluid output. So all funds collected are going towards bills and making sure we don't lose our home during this healing period. I'll continue to post updates here and on TikTok so you can follow along. ANY amount helps, and if you can't donate... Just send a prayer or thought to whomever you believe in ❤️. We appreciate the continued love and support through this tough time.

Hi, I'm Jaclyn. This is extremely difficult for us, as we tend to keep our private life very private. But it seems we have no choice.
The day after Thanksgiving I was at work and some ASSHOLE cut off the catalytic converter in broad daylight.
At 2 am on the 6th, Dennis got out of a shower and collapsed on the floor naked crying. I knew something was REALLY wrong. We were rushed to the ER via ambulance. That same day we had court at 8 am due to late rent for eviction. Den has been in so much pain the last 2 months he hasn't been able to work much, also during that time my nana had 3 strokes and died in my arms in October, so I had been not working and doing her hospice care. IT'S NEVER ENDING.
We appreciate all the love and support. These funds will help make sure I can help take care of Dennis while he's getting better and give our two amazing kids the Christmas they deserve. We've been in the hospital a week now. This has been a rough journey and we're not even close to the finish line.

ANYTHING at all is helpful and a blessing. If you can't, we understand and request you pray to whatever higher being you believe in.
Thank you everyone for checking in on Den Den. We're gonna make it through all this! ❤️
