FreeDome Unlimited
Donation protected
At this crucial moment in American society, many of us are looking for ways to help make our world a better and fairer place. Free*Dome Unlimited, Inc. is an emerging nonprofit organization that seeks to promote healing and to empower individuals and families impacted by mass incarceration and the social determinants to health in Virginia. If you are able, please consider donating to the establishment of this nonprofit, which directly and immediately contributes to the well-being of people in Virginia, and addresses some of the short- and long-term effects of systemic racism and injustice.
Founder Christopher Rashad Green knows the challenges of successfully integrating back into society after incarceration. An intelligent and gifted person, Christopher left prison as a young adult determined to never return, but with inconsistent access to resources and support, he struggled with substance use, and returned to prison repeatedly. Over time and through introspection and self-realization, he was able to successfully reenter society and, in the past decade, has dedicated his life to helping others. Through his nonprofit organization, Free*Dome Unlimited, he seeks to provide the authentic, holistic, community-based reentry support that he knows first-hand, works to help people recognize and manage trauma, access resources for housing and employment, and reintegrate into society. The mission of Free*Dome Unlimited is “Help Us to Help Others.”
Free*Dome Unlimited, Inc. has been registered as a nonprofit, and Christopher, a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond, is working with individuals and organizations in criminal justice, social work, education, and private industry to recruit passionate board members and partner with social service organizations in the state. He is working with an established law firm here in Richmond and has reserved the name and is developing bylaws and articles of incorporation. He has filed paperwork to classify this organization as a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3), and is awaiting approval from the Internal Revenue Service.
I worked with Christopher at VCU, where he served on panels about mass incarceration and substance abuse, organized student volunteers, and worked as a community researcher. He was involved in the Common Book Program, welcoming Bryan Stevenson and promoting student discussions around Just Mercy. He is passionate and compassionate, kind and smart. He has accomplished a great deal in the decade since he left the prison system for good, and is dedicated to helping others successfully reintegrate into society. Over the past decade, Christopher has researched and worked with existing local services, established connections, and created curriculum. He has also authored a chapter in the book How We Fight White Supremacy. As the lead organizer for New Virginia Majority in Richmond, Christopher is currently leading a two-year campaign for a constitutional amendment change here in Virginia to ensure automatic voting rights for all.
I have seen the work that Christopher has done as a Criminal Justice Organizer around voter rights restoration, judicial watch, and transformative justice. I am in awe of his advocacy and his empathy, and his ability to set high goals and accomplish them. Christopher has already positively and deeply impacted many people, and Free*Dome Unlimited will continue to change individual lives and our community. Please consider contributing to the establishment and growth of this nonprofit, whether you are able to donate $5, $50, or $500.
Through his connections with social services and private industry, Christopher is establishing funding via grants and partnerships with state and local organizations. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to generate funds to cover the first year of operations while these grants and partnerships are secured. $55,000.00 will cover necessary expenses to launch Free*Dome Unlimited, Inc: the salaries for a part-time program administrator and a part-time administrative assistant, consultants, equipment, educational programming materials, and supplies. Christopher, as President and Executive Director, will not receive a salary for his position, as he wants all funds to go towards fulfilling the promise he made to himself and to others in his position a decade ago.
