Hi! My name is Jacci Farnsworth. I'm reaching out in hopes of gaining more independence with a new wheelchair to enhance my quality of life. I was born with Spina Bifida of the mid/lower back. For a better understanding, this is where the spine doesn't fully fuse correctly and, in cases like mine, was pushed out of my back into a small sac. This affects certain parts of the body below the spinal defect to be paralyzed. Being born with this has come with upwards of 20+ surgeries and many challenges. The most life-altering surgery was in 2016, months after I turned 20 and had my first baby. While meant to help, that surgery resulted in total paralysis of my left leg, making 2025 my 9th year 100% wheelchair-bound. Luckily for me, I have been blessed with a great support system including, but not limited to, my parents, husband, friends, and children. My parents raised me to believe that I could do anything, even if it looked different. They made that all possible for me while growing up. Camping, hunting, and shooting were a big part of my life growing up and still continue to be. Now that I've been blessed with 4 beautiful children, I'm trying to teach them the same mindset, support them, and be involved in any way that I can. They love the outdoors! Camping and spending time on the mountain is our favorite family pastime. I have always wanted to be a part of that with them in more ways than just watching them play from the porch, car, etc. Plain and simple though, my manual wheelchair is just not equipped for those things. All of these factors have brought me to exploring my options to enhance my ability to do more things I love and with my children.

"Off-road" wheelchairs are considered a luxury and not a necessity by insurance, leaving all out-of-pocket expenses to the family.

Which is what has brought us here to ask for help. Off-road wheelchairs can range to upwards of $10k-$20k, so every dollar counts. Thank you for taking your time to get to know me and my situation! We appreciate you all.
