Freedom Summer at NYMF!
Donation protected
We are so thrilled to announce that after a season of festival submissions, Freedom Summer is headed to the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) this summer! We are so grateful for everyone who has helped us get this far, especially our gracious friends and colleagues who helped with the on campus lab at Baldwin Wallace University.
The New York Musical Festival is the premiere new musical incubator in the business. We are working to finance our time at the festival, and we're turning to you for help! We need your donations to help pay actors, creatives, secure spaces, and produce our reading to the highest of standards. The higher quality our reading, the more promise for the future, and the better chance you have at saying you were a part of building something really special. A bit about the show below:
In the summer of 1964, civil rights workers from New York City join forces with grassroots activists in Meridian, Mississippi. Freedom Summer follows their crusade for equality as they navigate racism, corruption, and violence in the Jim Crow south. As the quest for progress begins to take its toll on the group, they’re forced to reckon with what it means to be an activist and the price one pays to rewrite history.
This show has been a project of passion, necessity, and joy for all involved. The story we're bringing to life is one that yearns to be heard. Help us achieve the level of work that our story deserves! For inquiries about how to get involved at a higher level, please contact our team via email.
