This very special Family of 9 members has been "Locked-In" for more than 6 years in a foreign country to which they fled. They sought freedom and protection from death threats to their family members simply because they were Christians. They escaped in two separate groups to avoid drawing attention and were reunited once inside this country of Refuge, and all sought protection from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Even with this protection the whole family has faced the mental, emotional and spiritual trauma resulting from what they experienced back home. They have faced encounters within the city in which they live from police checkpoints and the possibility of arrest and even deportation without showing proper UN papers. As refugees they are restricted to work for incomes far below the standard for citizens of this country, and often they have trouble even holding onto these jobs being the first to be terminated when economic hard times face businesses. They have had to find housing where all 9 of them could live together and help each other to survive, even though it meant limited food to eat and less than ideal sleeping accommodations. They have freely received help with medical support for Doctors and hospitals thanks to the work by the UN with refugees. The family lost their mother to a terrible disease when most of the children were young and before all the tramatic events came later and forced them to flee their homeland. For their protection I have modified the photo I share with you to limit their facial recognition and avoid further threats to their security. After the past 6 years some family members have had difficulty working through the effects of trauma they have experience and have had to seek professional help in dealing with difficult struggles. And then in 2020 this nation, and this family faced even a more traumatic time due to the Covid Pandemic and the fears that brought along with loss of jobs. Recently with the help of the UN most of the family has begun to receive Covid vaccinations in mid 2021.

Why am I reaching out to you on their behalf with this large Go Fund Me Project. Because Canada seems to be the most likely country to settle a refugee family this large. But due to the Covid Virus there, the Canadian government is not yet processing all the refugees they had planned to take into their country. In order to get processed as an immigrant the Canadian Government first requires personal, groups, church or business sponsorship of families who wish to come into the country. Sponsors are required to provide all the necessary support for settlement for up to a year after they arrive. Potential costs while refugees are trying to survive in a new land of hope can be as much as $17 thousand dollars per person. The government requires this to be covered before any action is taken to permit them to come. The fund will go entirely to cover the expenses for one year for this family unit of 9 people (Dad, son, 4 daughters (1 married), a son-in-law and two grandchildren). I have been assured that if this money can be raised through GO FUND ME, that an organization in Canada will find a church to sponsor them and help them transition to their new life in Canada. It is my hope and prayer that our generosity as people in Canada and the United States can combine to reach this lofty goal of $110,000 Dollars.
