A big thanks and a warm hug to anybody taking the time to read my story
On Sunday January 6th my girlfriend Monica Veronica Barrios Araujo was aprehended by ICE immigration officials. She was traveling by bus from CT to Chicago to visit her brother for his birthday and an aunt who came to visit her from their home country of Venezuela. ICE officials boarded the bus asking for ID’s and arrested her after seeing her expired passport. Veronica overstayed her visa in the US, but she is far from a criminal, she is a light to this world and everyone who knows her personally can attest to this. She came into the country legally and was on her pathway to becoming a legal resident doing everything correctly. She is currently being held in the county Jail in PA along with real criminals. She is a gem of a person and does not deserve to be detained in her current situation. Her family and I are doing all we can to get her out of jail and back home to us in Stamford, CT. Those who know me now that I am not one to ask for help but I am making this plea to you all out of desperation. I’ve spent all my savings on her legal fees and they will continue to add up during this ongoing process. Hopefully soon she will be granted a bond to get out of jail but the sum will be in the thousands of dollars. Any little bit that you can contribute will go a long way in helping us out, and if you can't contribute please helps us by sharing our story. Monica’s family and I thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. May god bless you all.
Sincerely,
Juan Z
