Pawsavers is a special-needs herding dog rescue located on an 8 acre mini farm in Central Ohio. We have been in business now for 10 years, and the last couple years has seen quite a change in the rescue world. After so many years of bringing in blind, deaf, and mobility impaired dogs, training them, and finding them wonderful forever homes, the last few years has brought a grinding halt to adoption efforts. Our foster homes are mostly gone, and the majority of dogs reside on my farm. They are a large group, but a happy group. And an active group — just because a dog is blind or deaf doesn’t mean they like to just lie around, they are still herding breeds, and they have an abundance of energy! We have three large yards here for the dogs to frolic in, but the fences are 30 years old, and I have patched, and patched, and patched, but I can patch no more. I need a new fence. The dogs need a new fence. Currently, I only have a few dogs that are able to go out into one of our yards, because the fences are in such bad shape, and these dogs are smart and athletic, and they will find a way out. I’ve been managing them the last few months over the winter by taking them outside in groups and watching them closely. If one wanders away too far, I can’t call them back, because they are deaf! So management is extra-difficult! Now that spring is here, I’m facing the fact that I’ve got to have a new fence. But the money is just not there. Not being able to adopt any dogs has meant a huge income shortage for us. There’s just no money for fencing, everything I have goes to dog food, and medical treatments. So I’m asking for help. We have a lot of loyal followers, and every little bit will help. If you can give $5,, that’s $5 closer to our goal. I would love to be able to get this up this spring, when installation is much easier. I pour my life into helping these dogs, and I can’t do it alone. I need everyone’s help. Let’s do this, y’all!
