Freebird at The Slow Bone

Jeffery Hobbs and The Slow Bone will host a free Thanksgiving meal for anyone in need. This will be the fifth year that The Slow Bone gathers an annual team of volunteers to serve: the homeless, Dallas' first responders, and people and families throughout the community suffering from food insecurity. Your generous donation to the event will directly impact and support these people during the holiday. 

“Over the years, Freebird has become such an important part of the year for everyone involved. We see a lot of the same folks every year. Slow Bone is like our home and when people walk through that door, no matter who they are, I want to make sure that they feel welcome. It’s just people comin’ together to help other people.” says Slow Bone owner and Freebird organizer Hobbs.
 
At last year’s Free Bird, Hobbs and his team welcomed and fed over 600 people during the four-hour event. The remaining meals were donated to the Austin Street Shelter and The Bridge, both outreach centers for the Dallas’ homeless populations. This year Hobbs anticipates a far larger turnout and looks forward to welcoming anyone who is in need of some holiday cheer. But he could use your help!

Any funds raised on this page will go directly into accommodating the growing group of attendees. Funding for materials such as rental fees for: tables, chairs, tent, and other needed gear. There is also an extensive children's area that we would like to outfit with games, coloring books, and other toys and activities to entertain and delight our littlest guests.  Donations of all sizes are welcome and much appreciated.
