Support For The Huynh Family
My parents got in a high collision freeway accident and my brothers and I are raising funds to pay for their medical expenses. The accident occurred Saturday night on July 31st, 2021. They are at two different hospitals as my mother needed to be airlifted to Dallas Parkland Hospital for immediate thoracic/abdominal surgery based on the injuries she sustained from the seat belt. She had a ruptured diaphragm, internal bleeding of the bowels and pelvic area, broken ribs, and L5.
We went to check on my dad which sustained a broken left arm and a fractured sternum. We were glad that he was conscious. The doctors said he's a little banged up, but will recover well after arm surgery.
Johnny Huynh (56)
- Oblique fracture of the left radius and ulnar (successful surgery)
- Fractured sternum
- Bruising/laceration of leg
Our attention went back to my mom as we drove to Parkland and waited to hear the results. At 11 am, we got unpleasant news that her condition had worsened during the operation and she had to be transferred to ICU before resuming. The impact was so hard, her diaphragm ruptured causing her stomach to enter the lung region. She had lost 3 liters of blood in the OR. Her bowels remained in 3 parts as they waited for her to stabilize in the ICU before resuming surgery.
Van Dinh (58)
- Ruptured diaphragm
- Internal bleeding of the bowels and pelvic region (successful surgery)
- Fracture ribs and L5
The next morning she had surgery to reconnect her bowels and closed up her belly. She will have shorter bowels and will remain in the ICU on the ventilator for now. The Docs say things are looking good and that's all we can hope for. It's hard seeing her like this in pain but we know she will bounce back!
Please we appreciate any support as funds will go towards medical expenses, physical therapy, and other expenses. Thank you for your time and for letting us share this story. We will keep you all updated on their recovery. Much love from us three Huynh brothers. I know there will be these kinds of smiles in the future. :)
