Free Tony from Harvard Debt!

This is Jack McMackin, a lawyer and a long-time friend and admirer of

Tony Lodge. Along with Team Tony, I am raising money to help

Tony get out from under his crushing education loans.

 

Here’s the story in a nutshell. Tony was a foster kid. He somehow got himself to

Western Kentucky University, where, homeless, he lived in his car for long

periods. He nonetheless got both a BA and an MA from Western Kentucky.

He also incurred $40,000 in student debt.

 

At age 29, Tony was admitted to the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School, where

he thrived. He got nearly straight A's and was selected as a commencement

speaker. He just graduated in May with a Masters in Public Administration.

 

He borrowed $100,000 for the Harvard tuition. So, he now has a total of $140,000 in student debt. We know it seems inexplicable that only loans, not

scholarships or grants were available to him at Harvard, but that's the fact.

 

Some additional details of Tony's American saga:

 

Tony's birth mother was a drug addict, and he was born with heart defects and

a foreshortened right arm. He was placed in our disgracefully failing American

foster-care system. The minister he was eventually placed with died, and he was

returned to group foster homes.

 

Tony's future? Unlimited.

 

He wants a family, a good life and a good job. He also wants someday, hopefully, to go to business school.

 

Tony is also thinking about, at some point, running for elective office. If he gets

elected, he would try to help improve, among other things, the foster care system.
