Free the Innocent 17 Fur Babies from LA Shelter!

On January 17th, LA Animal Services illegally raided Bark n’ Bitches and removed 17 innocent rescued dogs.  Please help us get them returned to their place of safety and love.

Shannon von Roemer opened Bark n’ Bitches on May 6, 2006 in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles.  When it was fashionable to go to a puppy mill pet shop and purchase a designer dog for thousands of dollars, Shannon came up with a solution to stop the suffering of dogs in our shelter systems by giving them a place to be seen in the true light of who they are.  Her model proved to be highly successful. The first ever HUMANE pet shop was born.  Over 7, 000 dogs later, a proclamation from the city and being a pillar in the community, Shannon has found herself at odds with LA Animal Services. It was discovered that her pet shop permit expired.  The normal course of action would be to pay it. Shannon did pay it, but LA Animal services used this as a means to shut her down.  That started with citations and demands to stop adopting dogs. No due process was afforded for the expired permit.  They just denied the permit which is unlawful without a hearing. It ended with an illegal warrant and seizure of 17 beautiful souls by animal control and LAPD.  They are now languishing in the shelter system which traumatized them in the first place.  These dogs were thriving, happy and healthy at Bark n’ Bitches. Many had approved applications and were on their way to their forever home.  This case is consistently being handled by my legal team, to no avail.  In the meantime LA Animal Services (Brenda Barnette) refuses to release the dogs back to me. There is NO law that says they can hold as evidence, but she doesn’t care.

Over the past SIX weeks my legal team has reached out to Brenda Barnette (GM of LAAS), Councilman Koretz’s office and the City Attorney. Brenda Barnette, the orchestrator of this terrible abuse to my dogs will not budge even thou it is unlawful and illegal. My attorney must now file a Writ of Mandate, so a judge will intervene and release these dogs out of hell. These are complicated, labor intensive and expensive. My attorney has a track record preparing Writ of Mandates and dealing with the injustices of LAAS. This is our last hope to free these poor dogs. These donations enable us to prepare the Writ and go in front of a judge.

Please help us save these sweet souls that are imprisoned, taking up valuable space in an overcrowded shelter.  They are receiving very little attention and are trapped in their kennels and cages.

We thank you in advance.
