Free PLC programming training

Hi, my name is Jakob Sagatowski and I'm fundraising to support my mission to give everyone the chance to learn PLC-programming using TwinCAT 3. I've been doing software development since I was a kid, and after doing "traditional" software development (Java, C, C++) for over 20 years, by coincidence I started out with PLC software development. The PLC software development world was quite different than what I was used to. Instead of having access to an infinite amount of free resources, open source projects and blogs I found a very closed industry. It's also not just that the industry is very closed, it also felt like the software development practices were stuck in the '90s. I felt that the industry needed change.

I'm trying to change this by contributing to the community primarily by offering:

- My free PLC programming course

- My YouTube channel

- My PLC programming blog

- My open-source PLC unit testing framework

- And much more...

Most of the stuff I do is focused towards PLC software development in Beckhoff's TwinCAT 3.

As this content creation eats lots of resources (webhosting, equipment, paying for artwork, but most of all the hundreds after hundreds of hours of my spare-time), I would be very happy if you could contribute to help me continue this journey on making the automation industry a little bit more open and willing to share knowledge!

So why am I asking for donations? It's primarily for the following five reasons:

1. Creating the above material eats an enormous amount of time. Because of the above, I had to go down significantly in working hours, which affects my economy.

2. Recording gear. Who would have thought that being a content creator requires so much gear? I've bought a new camera, lenses, lighting equipment, sound equipment, licenses for software and much more. By making a donation, you are supporting me in bying all the equipment that is necessary for creating videos.

3. PLC-gear. Even though a lot of the training can be done without any physical PLC hardware, I regularly have to buy new PLC hardware to aid in creation of the training videos.

4. I am not in any way supported by Beckhoff. Contrary to most beliefs, all the content that I'm creating is done on my spare-time, and I'm in no way affiliated with Beckhoff.
