Kuya J is a caring father, loving husband, and a selfless caregiver residing in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. He migrated from the Philippines over 20 years ago in order to support and create a better life for his family.
On January 22, 2026, Kuya J was unjustly detained by ICE. He has been transferred to 3 detention facilities in a month and faces inhumane conditions, including up to 20 detainees cramped into a single cell, no windows, poor air ventilation, dirty water, and inadequate food. He and many other detainees fell ill and did not receive a medical examination or treatment. Kuya J and his family have also fallen into deeper financial hardship each day he is detained due to the loss of income and high costs of basic necessities at the detention facility.
Kuya J's family and Tanggol Migrante have contacted the Philippine Consulate in Chicago and the Philippine Embassy in DC for assistance, however Kuya J has not received any assistance to date.
We are calling on your support for Kuya J and his family as we fight for his wellbeing & release. Join us and let them know they’re not alone.
