We are raising funds to help free Jean Denis, a devoted father, husband, and community artist who was kidnapped by ICE while working to support his family in the San Diego area. He is a Haitian asylum seeker who has Temporary Protection Status and was forced into detention two weeks ago – suddenly separating him from his wife and two young daughters, one of whom has special needs requiring her mother's full-time care. We are now fighting for his release on bond.

Before arriving in the United States to seek asylum, they lived in Tijuana, Mexico for four years, where they became beloved members of the community. Both parents are Haitian dancers and educators who taught Haitian dance classes, shared culture and bridged cultural gaps through their art. Their work created space for joy, healing and belonging for the many members of the transfronteriza community.

What Happened

Jean Denis was kidnapped by ICE agents on November 24, the day before Thanksgiving, while he was at work delivering a package to a military base.

He remains in detention and his bond will be set after a court hearing. As he was the sole economic provider of the family, we are asking for urgent community support.

Ayuda para liberar a Jean Denis, un padre haitiano detenido por ICE

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a liberar a Jean Denis, un padre, esposo y artista comunitario dedicado, quien fue detenido por ICE mientras trabajaba para sostener a su familia en el área de San Diego. Es un solicitante de asilo haitiano que tiene Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS). Fue llevado a detención hace dos semanas, separado de repente de su esposa y sus dos hijas pequeñas, una de las cuales tiene necesidades especiales que requieren la atención de su madre tiempo completo. Ahora luchamos por su liberación bajo fianza.

Antes de llegar a los Estados Unidos para solicitar asilo, vivieron en Tijuana, México durante cuatro años, donde eran queridos miembros de la comunidad.

Lo que pasó

Jean Denis fue detenido por agentes de ICE el 24 de noviembre, el día antes de Thanksgiving, mientras entregaba un paquete a una base militar para su trabajo haciendo entregas.

Sigue bajo detención y su fianza será determinada en una audiencia judicial.

Como era el único proveedor económico de la familia, estamos pidiendo apoyo urgente de la comunidad.
