Hello, my name is Josefina, and I am organising this emergency fund to support an amazing artist and a person very close to my heart F.E. who is currently experiencing consequences of systemic violence deeply rooted in structural racism and discrimination.

On the night of the 25th of October they were travelling back home from Poland when in a clear situation of racial profiling, a white woman arbitrarily brought a police officer to check on them, without any reason besides her racist gaze. It is important to highlight that F.E. has a permit process underway due to having family in the European Union and that they were independently and voluntarily leaving the territory of Poland, where they had only stayed for only a few days.

This led to their arrest, after which following four days of total isolation, mistreatment, and denial of any information or contact with their loved ones. They were then transferred to an immigrant detention center located eight hours away, on the opposite side of the country, where the “hybrid warfare” of the European Union–Belarus border humanitarian and political crisis is taking place.

The way the authorities are dealing with the case is not only disproportionate but even inhumane, taking an estimated time up to 7 months to give a response to legal procedures.
After more than 40 days in detention, they are now asking for a possible option of an international protection procedure to be able to go out of Poland that could take additional three to seven months.

These 40+ days of detention alone have already caused significant harm, resulting in the loss of housing, work, projects and financial stability. Beyond that, the ongoing stress and violence they endure daily are severely endangering their mental health.

As described above, this situation has placed F.E. under immense emotional and financial strain. We are doing everything possible to ensure their safety. For this reason, we are circulating this GoFundMe to support them and to collectively share the weight of this deeply unfair and violent situation.

The funds collected will be used to cover the mandatory administrative expenses generated by the detention center procedures, legal assistance, and basic needs such as food, clothing, and personal hygiene products, items that must be delivered in person, creating additional monthly transportation and accommodation costs. The funds will also support future relocation, housing, and their recovery process.

For safety reasons, we are disclosing only their initials, and we kindly ask you to refrain from asking questions that could compromise their security.

If you are able to contribute, any amount, even a small one, will make a meaningful difference.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with us and showing that no one should have to face this alone.

J & F.E.
