On Nov 18th, our fellow comrade Emanuel Padilla (Eman) was arrested during a small peaceful protest against the LASD Department for an incident that allegedly occurred on Nov 15th. His family has been repeatedly targeted by the police following him home and monitoring them.

Additionally his wife, Meagan Adams, was targeted the same day of his arrest, while driving to the jail the night of his arrest. She was held and released the next day. When she arrived home, she found her apartment has been raided. During his initial few days being jailed he was unjustly denied legal counsel and his diabetes medication.
Eman is currently being held as a political prisoner in Los Angeles. He was initially held on a 1 million dollar bail charge, but has since been denied bail since his arraignment on November 23rd. This means he will be held in a maximum security cell without seeing his family and friends over the holidays for a victimless charge. His next court date is set for Jan 8th.
Eman grew up in Compton and has become active in protests and direct actions since the death of George Floyd. Many friends would describe Eman as a “gentle giant” and passionate participate in the BLM movement. He’s incredibly thankful to all of the love and support, and hopes to be released to continue to help fight for justice.
We are seeking donations to help support him and his family while they fight our legal system to free him from the unjust charge brought against him. Currently it is unclear what the cost will be for all the legal proceedings. The donation amount may be adjusted as we approach his first court date and learn more about his situation. If we happen to raise more money than needed, it will be donated to a local Los Angeles Bail Fund to help release other comrades who are fighting for justice.
