Hey y'all,
If you know me, you'll know making this GoFundMe is a really difficult thing to do, not only because I'm asking for money, but because I rarely discuss my transition. It also requires me to come out to everyone I know. However, this is necessary.
I'm asking for help. I've been out as trans for two years now and am so thankful for the support I've received from my friends and family. I'm privileged to pass as male, to have people respect my name, and for not being a victim of any transphobia.
There are two things I wish to accomplish: getting my name legally changed and getting top surgery. Top surgery is my top priority. Every day I have to wear a binder that constricts my breathing in order to feel comfortable enough just to go outdoors. Binders are not safe to wear for extended periods of time and are a temporary solution to a larger problem.
It's hard to put into words how difficult it is to be in the wrong body. Getting this surgery would make me feel whole. It would give me confidence in my body, something I've struggled with since I can remember. It would allow me to wake up everyday myself.
If you donate, I will make you a thank you card featuring a drawing of mine. Every donation, even if it's $5, would mean the world to me. The surgery will cost more than the amount that I'm asking, especially if you consider the cost of going to and staying in Plano, TX (the nearest trans-friendly place it's offered).
Depending on the success of this GoFundMe, I plan on having this surgery this July so I can have time to heal before returning to school.
