Fred's Double Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Fred's life slowly began changing in the fall of 2018, where he noticed he was growing short of breath. Over the next couple of years, he had numerous tests and doctor visits, yet his breathing progressively got worse. In September of 2020, his health was declining so rapidly that he was unable to continue working. By January of 2021, he had a near-death experience and was hospitalized for nearly a month in the ICU. He was diagnosed with PAH, which is a very rare lung disease, that narrows the blood vessels and arteries in the lungs and causes the right side of the heart to work on overdrive. He has a permanent IV line with the strongest medication available, however, the medication is not improving his quality of life and his dependency on oxygen is only increasing. The only option is a double lung transplant at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be added to the transplant list in the first week of December, and after listing, this transplant could happen at any time. Please consider helping out his family as they will be required to live in Nashville, TN for a minimum of 3 months post-transplant and be within 10 minutes of the hospital in case any emergencies arise. Money raised will be used for travel, lodging, food, and ongoing medical bills.
Thank you all in advance for your gracious generosity and for giving Fred a second chance at life.
