A modest appeal to extend the presence of Mr Fredrik Strömer

The Predicament:

It appears that Mr. Fredrik Strömer, a gentleman and of considerable talent in the rather niche field of plate heat exchanger design, has been diagnosed with a particularly unpleasant case of “Cancer”.

The Dilemma:

The Swedish healthcare system, bless their bureaucratic souls, have offered Fredrik the customary "end-of-life care package” as their budget for 2025 was a bit tight. It seems however, that Mr. Strömer harbors a rather stubborn desire to remain amongst the living. His wife and three children concur.

The Solution (Such as it is):

A private clinic in Finland has offered Mr. Strömer access to a treatment that aims to actually cure the cancer involving, shall we say, a rather vigorous application of radiation. The odds are “not great, not terrible” but at least much better than waiting for the transition to a more… permanent residence.

Unfortunately, this particular brand of "re-energization" of Mr Strömer comes with a rather hefty price tag, one that falls outside the current budgetary constraints of the Swedish healthcare system as discussed above.

The Appeal:

We, his concerned friends and acquaintances (and those vaguely inconvenienced by the potential loss of his expertise in plate heat exchanger design), are therefore appealing to a combination of your good nature and economic standing. A contribution, however modest, would buy Mr. Strömer a few more rounds with fate and keeping him healthy enough to play his part as husband, father and thermodynamical know-it-all while at it.

To define “modest” – anything from a fancy coffee or a standard lunch or the grocery budget for one or two weeks. Or why not ask your next in kin how much they would accept to not inherit when you pass on, to help avoid that Mr Strömer does just that.

The Reward:

In return for your generosity, you will receive the satisfaction of knowing you have significantly contributed to extend the presence of Mr Strömer’s and increasing his quality of life while doing so. And, perhaps more importantly, ensured the continued advancements in energy efficiency globally.
