Freddy's Cancer Fight

Hello, my name is Wilfredo Leon, and on behalf of my family and friends, my wife and I would like to start a gofundme to help support my Uncle Freddy during his battle with cancer.

 

Those of you who personally know Freddy know that he is ALWAYS the life of the party! Not only is he always ready with a joke, but he is also the first one to offer a hand, or even the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He is a loving Husband to his wife Betty, and awesome Father to his children Esteban (14) and Abigail (9).

 

Last December, Freddy was diagnosed with a very rare form of Cancer, which has rapidly progressed to stage 4, and has also spread to both of his lungs. As you can imagine this has been a very difficult year for him and his family. Freddy has been unable to work since his initial diagnosis back in December, and his wife Betty has recently had to quit her job so that she could be available to take him back and forth to the appointments in Tampa at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Since his cancer is so rare, the only thing doctors are able to offer him at this time is an experimental course of chemotherapy. To date, he has completed 4 of the 6 sessions, with minimal results, but still he continues to fight, as we all continue to hope and pray for a miracle. He just has so much more life to live and is not ready to leave his wife and children. When we ask if there is anything he needs, all he ever requests is more time with his children .

 

Not only has it been physically and emotionally difficult, this has also been a huge financial strain on the family. Every 3 weeks, he must travel 5 hours round trip to Tampa for his chemotherapy which lasts four days at a time. With limited income, they have had to use up what little savings they had, and as a result are now relying on credit cards to cover a majority of their daily to day expenses.

 

If you are able in any way to help support Freddy and Betty they would be so blessed. No amount is too small to make a difference and would mean so much to them .
