Freddy Posadas is a bilingual school psychologist in the NYC area who desperately needs our help! He is a dear friend and co-worker to so many of us. I happen to be one of the lucky social workers who worked with Freddy for 12 years. Freddy is extremely dedicated to his profession, always going above and beyond for his students and colleagues. Freddy is married to his amazing wife Camille, and they have three sons.

 

Last Thanksgiving weekend (2021) Freddy was rushed to the hospital with dizziness and severe vomiting. He was diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma of the brain, which is a form of brain cancer. Freddy had brain surgery on December 1st and two days after surgery suffered a life-threatening seizure. This seizure complicated his recovery from surgery and almost took his life. Freddy required speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy to relearn many skills.

 

Through all these obstacles Freddy continues to fight hard to beat this cancer and to date has received 8 rounds of high dose chemo to shrink the tumor. He has now been told that he needs a stem cell transplant to further aid his recovery. Here is where the problem lies... Freddy has been out of work since his diagnosis in November 2021 and if he does not return to work in September 2022 his paychecks will stop. He will continue to have life insurance through his wife, but the family will not be able to afford their mortgage and other living expenses without Freddy's income! It's crazy to think that someone must choose between saving their life and saving their job and home.

 

This GoFundMe is our attempt to help raise money for Freddy and his family to allow them to continue living in their home while he undergoes this lifesaving transplant. As you may know, a stem cell transplant procedure takes months to complete and may keep Freddy out of work for 4-6 more months and possibly the next school year. Freddy and Camille have so many things going on with Freddy's health, paying their mortgage or God forbid losing their home should not be added to their heavy load.
