Two weeks ago my neighbor found a stray puppy abandoned in an industrial area with no tag or chip. The first vet said that the puppy was malnourished, dehydrated, and appeared to have been on her own for several days. My wife and I loved this dog from the moment we saw her. My wife named her Fred after her favorite character on a TV show (Winifred Burkle), that we watched during the pandemic lockdown.
The first four days were amazing! Fred is the most affectionate playful puppy I have ever met. On the fifth day, she got sick. We rushed her to the emergency room where we found out she had Parvovirus. The vet said that Fred looked like she was born in a dog breeding facility and that she was probably discarded because of a Parvo outbreak.
They told us that treatment would cost $1,300 daily and that she would need to be there for several days, but all we heard was that they could save our puppy. Today is day six and she may need 4 or 5 more days of treatment. We don't know how much longer we can keep her there, and I can't let my wife bring her new puppy home to watch her die because we didn't have the money for another night. I love my wife. She has hospiced for two family members and seen more than her share of death. I can't let this puppy die. Even a few dollars could help us get Fred one more night in the hospital. Please help us save this dog.
