In memory of Fred in ‘Fred’s Shed’
For the past 20 years Fred Spencer was, to so many of the Stockport Grammar School community including pupils, staff, parents and grandparents, Fred in ’Fred’s Shed’
I have no doubt that everyone will have their own stories to tell of Fred, whether it was his morning welcome, his humour, his kindness, his willingness to help or the way he engaged with the little ones who would arrive at school excited to show him a toy or a piece of work. For me, personally, it was the support he gave willingly for SPA activities, the number of times he took in my children’s forgotten games kit for them to collect from his Shed, or helping my ageing father with my mother’s wheelchair on Sports Days.
We, as a family, were so very saddened to hear of Fred’s death at the end of October, so with the permission of Fred’s son, Callum, I have set up this GoFundMe page in honour of the man Fred was; to give those in the Stockport Grammar Community, who wish to, an opportunity to honour his memory with donations to the family’s chosen charity. Fred cared deeply about helping people who were suffering with mental health challenges, especially young people and children, so donations will go to Beacon Counselling www.beacon-counselling.org.uk
Your memories of Fred would also be welcomed.
