James Frederick Jones, lovingly known as Fred, passed away on September 11, 2022. Fred leaves behind his daughter Wyndee whom he was fortunate enough to work with at the Y this past summer- what a blessing! He also leaves behind his daughter Jessica and granddaughter Addison, his sister, Sarah, and his brother, Oscar who lives outside of Atlanta.

Fred was born and raised right here in Fort Mill. He attended Clemson University and was a devoted Tigers fan. He became a sort of “Jack of all trades” over the years enjoying different jobs. He started at the Complex in 2016 before it became the YMCA in 2018. Fred routinely opened the YMCA each morning around 5:30am and his friend Herb would come in shortly after. They had a great friendship. If you ask any member of the YMCA, they’ll probably say the same thing, he was always in great spirits with a smile on his face. If you ask his coworkers, they’ll fondly tell you he would do anything and was always there for you. Fred will be sorely missed by his YMCA family and friends.
