Fred Gillum Kidney Transplant

Hi, my name is Greg Mathewson and my great friend Fred Gillum has end stage Renal Failure and is in desperate need of a transplant to be able to resume his “normal” life.

I wanted to give everyone an update as to how Fred is doing. We had a little setback as I had to have many more tests than usual to get cleared to go forward as a donor. My case goes before the review board next week and I anticipate getting the go ahead, God willing. Fred also had to undergo a surgery to help some sores on his feet heal so he can enter the testing phase. By the grace of God the surgery was a success and the wounds have healed up. We are praying that Fred’s doctor signs off and he can go full speed ahead in the donation process! This is the absolute best chance he has to regain his best life.

With all that being said, Fred has not been able to work since 2022 and lost his health insurance and that has put him in a financial quagmire. I am hoping and praying that we can get to that goal I set to take a little financial stress out of the equation. I have been blown away and ever so grateful of the generosity of Fred’s friends and complete strangers, truly a miracle and blessing. Fred is a great guy with lots of life to live. He helps with Veteran causes and will literally give his shirt off his back to help someone in need.
