Fred Davis Lively Technical College Aviation Scholarship
This scholarship fund was created in memory of Fred W. Davis. His work ethic, compassion, and dedication to his loved ones made him an invaluable member of the community.
Fred's aviation career spanned almost 50 years. His interest in all things aircraft began at a young age, inspired by his grandfather who worked at Eglin Air Force Base as an aviation mechanic. In 1974, Fred graduated from Lively Technical College, and then applied his experience with the knowledge gained at Lively to his job at Hudson Aircraft. Through the years, Fred's indomitable work ethic and vast technical knowledge propelled him through the ranks. After Hudson became Flightline Group, Inc., Fred was promoted to Director of Maintenance, where he excelled for the remainder of his career.
Fred has been a part of the Tallahassee Airport community for over 45 years supporting those in need of aircraft maintenance. Living only a couple of miles from the airport, Fred responded day or night to countless travelers in need of help. Fred’s keen trouble shooting ability made KTLH a great place to breakdown. His commitment to grounded aircraft to get them flying again was legendary.
Fred mentored numerus mechanics in their careers and was a longtime member of Lively Technical School Airframe and Powerplant Program’s Advisory Board. Many of those he mentored became part of his Technical Services Team at Flightline and have worked with him for well over twenty years. Fred was a true mechanic’s mechanic and admired by all who knew him.
Throughout the long years of outstanding service, Fred remained a devoted father of three. His children inspired him to work hard, not only for their present, but also for their futures. Fred's legacy is one of hard work and determination; whatever goal he set his mind to, he approached it with his whole heart. In establishing this scholarship, Fred’s family and friends wish to honor his commitment to continuing education and self-improvement.
The scholarship will be administered by Lively Technical College Aviation Department and will be awarded to deserving Aviation students to assist in funding their tuition and encourage them to follow in Fred’s footsteps.
