Help Us Save Our Home

Hi, my name is Angelina, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit.

My husband, Tam, and I are facing the very real possibility of losing our home due to unexpected rent arrears. We’ve always taken pride in paying our rent in full and on time throughout the six years we've lived here. But over the past few months, life has thrown us some challenges we couldn't have anticipated.

Tam, who is deaf, recently underwent life-changing cochlear implant surgery. This is the beginning of a long, two-year journey involving therapy and ongoing adjustments - a journey we are committed to, with the hope that his hearing will significantly improve. However, the many hospital visits and the emotional toll have meant we’ve had to step back from work more than we could afford to.

At the same time, someone who owes us a substantial amount of money has been unable to pay us back, and that has tipped our finances into a precarious state. We’ve now fallen four months behind on our rent. Our landlord is requesting not only the full arrears but also interest and court fees. We’ve been served a court summons for eviction, with a hearing scheduled for 5 June 2025.

We’re doing all we can to get back on our feet, and while we hope to move to a more affordable place in the future, right now we urgently need to resolve this situation and keep a roof over our heads.
