Send FRC Team 2402 to the VA Regional!

James Monroe High School’s Robotics Team, the RoboJackets, FIRST Team 2402, is seeking sponsors to help support our exciting and continuously expanding program. We participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition, created to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) while providing hands-on experience in solving real-world problems. FIRST draws more than 2,000 teams from countries around the world including the U.S, Canada, Israel, Brazil, and the UK. Students are involved with STEM-related activities such as workshops, training, and exhibits. All of this culminates in a high-tech sporting event where the students are required to design, prototype, build, and test a 120lb electro-mechanical, computer controlled robot to complete a challenge in only six weeks. In addition to STEM experiences students have the opportunity to meet and work with professionals in STEM fields who contribute their industry experience to the design process. These mentors inspire students to become the next generation of problem solvers.

The RoboJackets have been in existence since the fall of 2007. Each year we have increased our impact on students in our school and our community. The size of our team has increased from around 5 students in 2008 to 12 students every year for the past three years and still growing. We continue to increase the frequency of our community demonstrations for elementary and middle school aged students as well as at community events. This year, we have also increased our program's reach by including seventh and eighth grade students in our programs and adding two FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams, which build smaller robots with different challenges.

Our budget is raised entirely by the team through student fundraisers, corporate sponsorships, and family donations. With the support of our sponsors, we hope to sustain our team through the current school year. For more information about our team, please visit our website at robo-jackets.com.
