Freeland Community FIRST Robotics Team 5352, Controlled Chaos, is having an incredible season! As the captain of the finalist alliance at the Mt. Pleasant District Qualifying Tournament on March 7-9, they earned 61 ranking points and are all but certain to have secured their spot at the State Championship at Saginaw State University on April 3-5. They are currently ranked 47th out of 529 teams in the state and 160 teams are invited to the State Championship! If they continue their success at the State Tournament, they will advance to the prestigious FIRST Championship in Houston, TX.

About Controlled Chaos
Team 5352 was founded in 2014 to create a more inclusive robotics program for the Freeland community and the Great Lakes Bay Region. The team is comprised of a small group of strategically significant students who have been involved in robotics for many years. Our mission is to have fun and compete in FIRST robotics while bringing STEM awareness to our community. We want people to appreciate the importance of robotics and STEM and understand that it is more than just robots.

Why We Need Your Help
With their outstanding performance, Controlled Chaos has the opportunity to compete at higher-level events, but they need additional funding to help cover registration fees ($4,000 for States, $5,750 for Worlds) and critical robot expenses like:

• Structural extrusions, hex shaft material, and polycarbonate sheets
• Wiring, connectors, batteries, and related wiring components
• Motors, controllers, encoders, and sensors
• Gearboxes and swerve drive components
• Critical spare parts (motors, gears, electronics)

Investing in Future Innovators
FIRST Robotics isn’t just about building robots—it’s about building future engineers, business leaders, and problem solvers. Each year, teams receive a brand-new challenge, requiring them to design, construct, and program a robot to complete specific tasks while collaborating with and competing against other teams.
