Fraziers are in need of help
Donation protected
It’s extremely hard to ask for help. Humbling. Sometimes life knocks you off your feet and you are able to dust yourself off and get back up again. But sometimes life knocks you down and there’s no getting up without help.
The Fraziers have been knocked down quite a few times because of Marty’s health and Covid in the last few years. And many times they have been able to figure out how to get back up again. But unfortunately, this time they are struggling to get back up again by themselves. They have a plan to better prepare for these times, but they need a little help to get to that point. They are currently under the threat of homelessness and they need to get to the point of filing bankruptcy.
It can feel demoralizing when there’s nothing left to do but ask for help and share with others your struggles. But, I’m hoping as their friend that a few of us can get them to a better road.
Barb’s description of the last few years and their plan is below. But in a nut shell they need to get current with rent, get the money to file bankruptcy (which they don’t want to do, but have no choice with Marty’s medical bills, etc), and Barb is looking for full time work.
Please be praying for my friends and if possible please consider helping. They have asked that we don’t share publicly what is happening and just ask individually. Sincerely thank you for considering the Fraziers.
Here’s Barbara’s description of the last few years medically and financially:
We were homeless from October 2019 to February 2021. We were under contract for a home in April of 2020. Covid came along and took out our loan program. Due to Covid restrictions we found ourselves stuck living in hotels.
As many of you know we have struggled with Marty’s health now for the last 9 years. Mostly, diabetic foot ulcers are what are most problematic. In 2015, he had a foot ulcer that almost caused him to lose his right big toe. He passed out in Kearney NE in February of 2016 and was out of work until May. He didn’t develop another until around June of 2017 and he fell in the dumpster and broke his wrist in July 2017. He was back to work in January of 2018 and developed another foot ulcer in March 2018 which all the casts and being uneven ended up causing back surgery in October 2018 and sinus surgery in November 2018. I lost my job in August of 2018. From October 2019 until December, it seemed we lived at NCMC. He was put on powerful IV antibiotics which ended up causing C Diff. So, he was out of work again. In December of 2019 Marty had another surgery for a ruptured bursa sac in his foot. He was able to go back to work in February 2020. He had no need for an antibiotic until January of 2022. Then in 2021 he had some complications with his DOT physicals not being conducted properly so he was out of work for nearly two months again. I went back to work in October of 2021 part time as I had to be home during Covid to help Karson with school. In January 2022 we were both struck with long Covid and due to work restrictions on our symptoms we were unable to return to work until April. Through Covid Marty developed a foot ulcer again. To date it is not healed due to Hanger not being able get their supply chain in for his orthotics to be completed. We are hoping for healing but fearful this will lead to another surgery or time off work again. We have met out of pocket expenses of $13,700.00 a year for 6 of 8 years that we have been together.
Additionally, we still pay $1200.00 a month in child support and alimony. We still have ongoing bills like our phone and day to day stuff for Karson. We need $5,000.00 to get through the end of the year, file bankruptcy, file for an attorney to file to get child support as well as hopefully reduce alimony and avoid homelessness again, and celebrate Karson’s 16th birthday. We appreciate anything that you can or have done for our family.
We need $1,500.00 for all the attorney fees etc. by next Monday to keep a roof over our heads. Then $1850 by December 8 for December rent. Filing for bankruptcy is $1300. Filing fees for Stacy are about $300.00. In January things should look up. I am looking for full time employment, Marty should have a bonus, the bankruptcy will stop a lot of bills.
